Get ready for the Kalumbila Challenge, an exciting multi-sport event returning to Sentinel School in Kalumbila town on Saturday, October 4th (06:00 – 18:00)! This year's Challenge features four distinct events:
Whether you’re looking to compete, enjoy the beauty of the Kalumbila forest, or cheer on participants, there’s something for everyone at this year’s event.
Your Entry fee covers for a race pack which include:
* T-shirt
* Running cap
* Food voucher
* Bib for runners and cyclists
* Four safety pins for the bib.
All race packs will be collected a few days prior to the race. Management will provide details on the time and location closer to race day.
Chess
The Kalumbila Challenge Chess Tournament is shaping up to be a fantastic
competition, bringing together chess enthusiasts of all ages and abilities.
This year we can accommodate 100 participants from all over North Western
Province.
The tournament is designed to encourage strategic thinking, good
sportsmanship, and healthy competition.
To ensure fair play and broad participation, we’ll have 6 experienced arbiters
to oversee the games and 4 different categories based on age, (not gender)
The tournament will feature fast-paced games with a time control of 6 minutes
per game. Each player will have 3 minutes on their clock (White and Black).
To manage the tournament efficiently and keep things moving, we will be
providing 20 chess sets and clocks, with 20 boards in play simultaneously, we
anticipate a swift progression through the rounds, allowing us to complete all
matches within the scheduled time. (15:00)

Cycling
This year's Kalumbila Challenge cycle will be held under the beautiful canopy of
the Miombo woodland, the riding tracks will be a mixture of single tracks with
some wider jeep tracks.
There are two options: a more technical 50km and an easier 25km which is
more suitable for cyclists of all ages and all capabilities.

Running
Our 10km run is mostly beneath the stunning canopy of the forest, which consists of wide paths with a short stretch of tarmac road.
For those preferring a shorter distance or requiring more accessibility, our 5km route primarily circles the Kalumbila town on tarmac. This makes it especially suitable for disabled participants.
