Welcome to the Kansanshi Marathon!

In 2023, the Kansanshi Mine made history by hosting the first World Athletics accredited marathon to be held in Zambia’s North Western Province. With a total prize purse of over K400,000, it was also the largest prize purse in Zambian running up to that time.

2024 hosted a total of 1700 runners from 22 different countries! We were delighted to attract participants from countries such as Kenya, Zimbabwe, and South Africa, making this a truly international event and we look forward to seeing the event grow each year.

The event will feature ZAAA and World Athletics accredited 42.2 km, 21.1 km, and 10 km races.
